1. Koch Industries

It should come as no surprise that Koch Industries tops our list. Koch Industries acquired Infor in 2019 after being long-time Infor customers. Koch Industries pushed for the development of the CloudSuite software as a way to connect and integrate data across the company's many holdings. They also utilize Birst to provide robust business intelligence capabilities at the organization.

Koch Industries has been ranked the second-largest private company in the United States with annual revenue of $110 billion while its growth has rapidly outpaced its competitors. Innovation has been a key part of the company's strategy, as seen here.

2. American Express

Although credit cards come to mind first when you think of American Express, another part of their core business is their Global Business Travel (AMEX GBT) division. American Express's travel services are made available by a network of over 18,000 employees in 140 countries as of 2020. This remarkable growth came courtesy of their investments in BI tools.

When AMEX GBT was first spun off in 2014, it only employed about 14,000 people. However, it quickly focused on going 100% cloud and used Birst to get that job done. The company launched the Premier Insights platform in 2016 to provide their corporate customers with easy travel management tools. Their innovations did not stop there.

In July 2020, the company launched Neo1, a platform that is designed for small businesses to manage their travel expenses. In addition, this platform now includes carbon emissions information in response to increasing consumer demand for corporate carbon responsibility.

The use of BI has made it possible for American Express Global Business Travel to be the world's leading travel management services provider. Despite the downturn in world travel in 2020, the company shows no signs of slowing down.

3. Teach For All

COVID-19 has certainly made life difficult for many businesses. However, one thing has become apparent--business intelligence can make overcoming these challenges easier. One example can be found in the educational company, Teach For All (TFA).

TFA's goal is to enhance education worldwide by providing schools across the globe with a better understanding of their operations through business intelligence. In the early days of the company, they would use nothing but Excel spreadsheets to track the hundreds of schools in their network. That approach couldn't work forever.

Andrew Ho, TFA's IT director, pushed to implement BI software and can now collect data in a day where it used to take a month. This made the company quite flexible and able to respond to the sudden change in education in 2020, launching new products and responding faster than before.
